Calipso International and Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College Sign First Green Initiative School Partnership

Beirut, Lebanon — September 16, 2026 — Calipso International and Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College have signed the first school partnership under the Green Initiative, a pioneering program developed to eliminate disposable plastic uniform bags by transitioning school-uniform distribution toward reusable and returnable alternatives.

The collaboration began earlier this year when Calipso International and Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College bulk-packaged one uniform item instead of using individual plastic bags — a decision that has already avoided more than 5,200 single-use plastic bags. That measurable result helped inspire Calipso International to develop the Green Initiative into a broader, structured program.

The partnership reflects both parties’ shared commitment to practical environmental education, visible responsibility, community leadership and reusable products designed to continue serving students beyond a single uniform-collection day.

Partnership implementation and roadmap

The 2026–2027 first phase begins with reusable uniform backpacks. The wider Green Initiative framework includes totes, pouches, canvas packaging envelopes and returnable bulk-delivery bags designed to replace disposable plastic packaging across factory logistics, school delivery, uniform packaging, student collection and everyday reuse. After approximately three months, the program will be evaluated and a roadmap prepared for wider implementation during the 2027–2028 academic year.
